Do Over

I thought that since I am out of commission for new work, I would show you this tip.  About two years ago, I started selling these photo albums.  For the first sale, I didn’t sell any.  I was also in a time crunch of getting them done that I didn’t have time to make a sample album.  Last November of 2012, I made the sample album where I had a few people interested in it.  And I think I sold one.

SAM_0864  The problem was the way the album was designed, I had this ugly edge which drove me nuts.  I couldn’t figure out of how to fix it.  I thought of using waschi tape, which would have worked if it matched the paper.  Except most of my pattern papers does not match the tape and I wasn’t going to start buying more tape.

But You- Tube solved my little problem.  This time, I am hoping that I get this link right this time.  It is called “Quick and Easy Journal” by Laura Tiffany.

When I first saw, it was the Eureka moment for me.  So I tried it and it works.  Here are some of the new albums that I am seeing for the upcoming sale.
And a closer view of one of them.

I did go to the doctor about my arm and he said that it is inflamed and I need to keep it immobile.  So in other words, be patience.

I always been making lists for my entire life.  Things to do, shopping lists, what to pack when I go on holiday, what to bring for sale or scrapbook retreats, and yes, I even made a list of which yarn I had in what bin.

So it wouldn’t be a big surprise so that I have a list of what I want to try out in knitting and crochet.  Would it be a bigger surprise that I have over 600 items that I want to try out?  Holy cow is right.  I broke down the list over the weekend where I learned that I have over 200 intarsia charts and 100 dishcloths.  From the intarsia charts, I will have at least 11 blankets.

I’m planning to take a closer look at the list this week since it has been in the works for the last 3 years.  There are probably things that I do not want to try anymore.

However it did get me thinking about my  2014 New Year Resolutions.  What about completing 100 from the list?  I know that I am going to need at least 30 dishcloths for the next November sale.  I do however think if I take the challenge, I would have to print out the lists again.

But still, would this be ambitious or completely insane.

What is even more ambitious is that I am toying the idea of reopening my shop on etsy.  I closed it down when I had the opportunity to set up my website.  Except the person who is running it, she moved and now she doesn’t have any internet.  But what I am thinking of setting up the shop and making stuff, just for the shop.  It gives me something to do, despite the chance that it might wreck my wrist even further.

This is what happens when I get bored.

The Following Weekend.

Well last Thursday was my second big sale and I was hoping that I would be able to do more and maybe, just maybe have a second place to have my things to sell like Koda’s Kountry. Oh hell no. I don’t believe in slamming people online, mainly because if I could easily slammed someone here, they can do the same or worst to me. But I will say that sale was completely unprofessional and I ended up screwing up my back big time. They would have to change their act before I even considered of doing this sale again, even if I was desperate.

This was my table.

I was lucky that I brought my art journal, my watercolor pencils and water brush. As well prepped some pages. I ended doing this drawing.

SAM_1245       I saw this on You-Tube during my insomnia.

SAM_1248   It did kills some time and I was really impressed with the shading on the green and pink column.

I do have to admit that I did get two orders from this sale. One person wanted a teddy bear for me which is cool. We actually sat down and talked about the colors and such. And I spent part of the weekend, looking for the right type of color and emailing him pictures. I alpologized for sounding evastive, but I do not know if the person who is getting the bear is reading this blog and I do not wish to let the cat out of the bag. But I am concern about my arm. Right now, it is hurting a bit. I did tell him it would take him about three weeks. Normally it would take two, but I would rather be safe than screwed.

The second order was a hat, but I am not really holding my breath on that one. The person seems alittle off, didn’t stand still long enough for me to get her name and phone number, wouldn’t take my business card to get my phone number so she can call on me to check the stats.

So this past weekend has been “eh”, that is the best way that I can describle it. I think, part of it was because I had to take pain killers for my back, so I might have been feeling the effects afterward. I also think, I might have just hit a wall, sort of speak. Working and stressing over the sale and throw in this ding dong insomina, kind of screw with your body.

I am hoping to do more sales, but I do know that I have to find a better way to display my cards with out that big clunky thing. As well as to show people that these cards are for sale.

After the Sale

Yesterday was the big sale.  And once again, this post is going to be short because of my wrist.  It was getting better, but the other night, when I cleared the table, I carried a platter with my right hand and I’m guessing the weight of it, might have aggravated it even more.  Oh goody.

Here is me at my sale.  My mother was there to help and she was the one who took the pictures.  I alpologized the quality of the photos, because I used my smart phone.  At the moment, my camera is misplaced.  Some people might argued that it is not misplaced, it is lost.

The funny thing about the sale was if you notice the card display in one of the photos, these had my best cards.  For the past three years no one would pick any of these cards, they would always choose the cards from the boxes.  Until yesterday, I pointed to a customer who was looking for a birthday card, the little birthday card that was on display and she asked me if these cards were on sale.  I think everyone was thinking that these cards were only for display.  Strange.

Unfortunately, I didn’t make much for this sale, I did make enough to pay for the tables, but I kind of blew it on the fudge and this purse.

IMG449  At least, I didn’t buy any yarn.

As well, halfway through, there was a huge blizzard.  Normally it would take me about 30 to 40 minutes to get home from Bentley, but it took me almost a hour because the roads were bad.

I have another sale this Thursday, which I am hoping the weather will be better.  But the other two things that I am concern about it that I am going to get one table and I am wondering of how I am going to set this one up.  I’m not bringing the card display.  But I guess, there is nothing to do about until I get there.  The  second thing, normally, I would work on dishcloths to pass the time, but with my wrist being the way it is, I’m doubting it.  I thinking of maybe working on my ATC there.  Just get them set up and bring my watercolor pencils and brushes to work on.  If this keeps up, I might have to make an appointment with my doctor, but I have a feeling that he will say, that I overdid it in knitting.

Meanwhile, I finished my first set of mail art.

IMG438         I used my stamps and dies to cut out the ornaments and threw in a couple of Christmas chipboards.

IMG437   I made a few extra owls from my owl punch and threw in a couple of tree and leaves die cuts.  I also got these bags for a dollar so I thought why not.  That is when I found out a little girl loves Minnie Mouse.  I’m thinking of doing mail art for her and for her brother as soon as I can get more bags.

IMG433  I used Secret Garden stamp and dies and cut several patterns paper to fit the enevolope.

IMG432  This is pretty much simple.  Just heart punches and Disney Princess bag.

All I need now is the address. But I am also waiting until I get my ATCs done to include in the mail art.  I think I have completed my first set minus the information.

I managed to save the ones that I were working which I royally screw up the sizing.  I stamped the sunflowers on the correct size of cardstock and color it, trying to get it close as I possibly can.  And then cut up the smaller ones and layered it, using the Triple Layer Technique.

I’m trying the technique again using a different stamp.   As well I came up with a few sketches for more ATCs which I also hope they work.

My wrist is starting to hurt again so  I am going to end this.  I hope everyone had a good weekend.
