An Update on my Health

I thought that I would give you an update of what has been happening.  Not much.  I honestly the recovery would take up to 2 weeks top.  That would be a big NO.  The physical therapist was right that it was going to take a while to get my arm work again.  I had a hard time working on a hat.  And as for art wise, this took me 3 days to complete instead of a day which it normally takes.  I know, I know, recovery takes time and it does suck a lot.

20181125_141155(0)[1]

And I was going to get tired a lot.  That lasted for weeks.  But now, I am off the steroids and which I am so relieved.  Not only I was seeing those giant red ants on the wall, my appetite had increased which I did gain wait.  Some of my clothes are tight.  As well I was really rooting and tooting.  Last week, I had to go to back to Calgary, I was hoping and praying that there wasn’t going to be any rooting and tooting or else, I was afraid that my mother would have pulled over and made me walk the rest of the way.  There wasn’t, thank goodness.

But I only had small headache, but I think it was from caffeine withdraw.  I also been avoiding stressful situations like a chicken.  I am terrified of getting headaches because they are a symptom for bleeding.

So no, I didn’t do the December sale which was sad.  But the good news that not only I got my despot on the tables back, but I was able to used it as despot for next year.  So everything from Koda’s Kountry is profit.

As to my health, next week I get a CT scan so fingers crossed that I don’t have the brain surgery.  As for my knee, that fall on the stairway on the first day of the brain bleed, made it worst.  I already seen a doctor about it, and he said it was torn ligaments.  I have to go in for physic, great more physic.  But at least it is not surgery.

I posted a short video in Lesley Creates to explain the long absence.

Announcement

So what is going to happen now?  Honestly, nothing.  I am going to wait and see of what the CT says.  I going to be positive and say that there is no bleeding, and I am cleared to drive.  And this is a chapter that will be closed in our lives.

If that chapter closed, I am not planning to work on Original Things until the New Year.  I am going to work on Lesley’s stuff like my blanket, my shawl.  And maybe, just maybe make a pair of slippers for myself.  I probably still going to work on cards, watercolor cards and do some art journaling.

As for Lesley Creates, the same, hold off until the New Year.  I still needs to learn about the new editing problem and get some samples done.  As well I ordered a tripod for the channel which has not arrived.

We had a postal strike here in Canada and even though the strike is over.  We are still dealing with the after mass.  They are behind and the people are saying that by the time they catch up, it will in March.  So obviously I cannot do any online shopping, which I was planning to do for my knee’s and the fact, I still cannot drive.

I guess that is all I can say.  So I don’t blog before Christmas.  I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

So what has been happening.

Today, I was supposed to be at Bentley for the Annual Christmas sale.  But obviously, I am not.

Last Friday, I woke up in the middle of the night, very groggy.  I was stumbling like crazy.  My first thought that since I had a very headache and I took a painkiller, I was feeling the side effects of it.  I assumed once I slept it off, I would feel back to normal.  I didn’t.  In fact, my left side was completely numbed, where I needed help in getting dressed.  I couldn’t even put new batteries in my hearing aids without help.  I had dinner with my family where I had trouble holding a fork.

Afterward, my mom took me to the ER where I had a MRI.  Within a hour, I was in an ambulance heading to Calgary because I had a brain bleed.  They were talking about brain surgery.

Apparently, 2 months ago, when I fell out of bed, cracking my skull.  It caused bleeding.  The idea of brain surgery scared the craped out of me.  I made it crystal clear with my mom that if I ended up brain dead, pull the plug.  I don’t want to be a financial burden.

Fortunately, they put me on steroids which they helped me greatly.  My left side is getting stronger, but I am getting more winded.  Even typing this blog out, I am getting tired. My balance is still off a bit.  The bad part of the drugs or the bleeding is that I am seeing things.  Like giant red ants crawling on the wall or furniture moving.  So driving is obviously out.

Then it gets betters.  I posted on facebook of what has been happening.  At that time, I had a very hard typing.  You needed a decoder ring to read the post.  So I asked a friend of mine to explain, except it ended up in completely disaster.  They all thought that my friend had a stroke and was in the hospital.  Good grief.

So since I surivived a brain injury, what is next.  Simple, I treated myself to alittle online shopping where I know I spent way too much money.  Oh well.

I am still bummed that I missed the sale.  I am hoping to make it to Dec sale. But honestly, when I worked on a hat, I can only knit two rows before getting worn out.  But the money from the sales is my Christmas money.  Damnit.  Fortunately, Shirley and Angela who in charged of the sale told me that everything was fine.  Just get better and it will take time.

They were right.  This is going to be a great test to my patiences.  Yippee.

So the plan ahead is in a few months, I need to get a MRI scan.  If the bleeding is still there, I will have to have to have surgery which means I will be in the hospital in 3 months  Oh goody.  And my hair dresser will have a fit over this.

I also have to go into rehab, but currently waiting, for them to call.  Forunately, it is in my town.

Hope everyone is well.

Decluttering Original Things

I have been so busy trying to declutter and clean up my art studio, my bedroom, my place that I forgotten to declutter Original Things.

And I know you are thinking, “Lesley, how are you are going to declutter Original Things?” It is almost the middle of October and I haven’t even posted a video for Halloween.  I actually planned 4 videos for this month.  This honestly really stressed me out to the point where I was physically sick again.  I am breaking out in rashes again and dealing with insomnia and anxiety.

My big sale is in the beginning of next month, and I still need to make more stuff.  Let alone, some of you known that Halloween is a very emotional time for me.   So I made a decision to save my sanity.

I am NOT quitting You Tube, but I am going to take some time off.  Which I know that is suicide for the You Tube community.  But right now, the sale is more important that Halloween.  As well I still haven’t got You Tube down pact.  I did downloaded Shotcut, the new editing program, but I still haven’t taken the time to watch the editorals and figure it out.  It takes me two days to edit on my cell and how many days to film a video.  Days that I need to be working on knitted and crochet things as well as cards.

I am not quitting, I am just prioritizing my sanity. After the December sales, things should slow down, hopefully.

Hope everyone is well.

Hello,

First of all, I should apologized for not blogging for awhile a bit.  I fell and hit my head hard where I ended up having a concussion.  Then the next day, my family had an emergency so basically all of my energy and time was focus on that.  But the good news is that everything is better and back to normal.

So back to work.  I hope everyone is well.

Anniversary Card

I know it seemed ages since I last blogged and posted a video.  It has been so hot with temperatures reaching up to 34C.  The air conditioner has been on all of the time.  And of course, it is right beside the computer.  In order to work on this computer, I have to turn off the air conditioner.  And honestly, that wasn’t going to happen.  My dad almost suffered a heat stroke from this heat.  Not to mention, I have been sick.  It has been too hot where I can’t eat and that made me feel more sick.  Terrific.

20180730_180617(0)[1]

So during this heat wave, it was my parent’s 62nd wedding anniversary. No, it is not a typo, they are actually married for 62 years.  What is their secret?  I already asked my mother that and she had no idea.

The video of the card is : Anniversary Card

The supplies I used are:

  • Truck stamp from CLDo1 from Stampendous.  Xmas Stamp and Die – You can use holiday stamps for regular cards, just use your imaginations.
  • Watercolor scrap paper – in this case, I used 120 lb paper
  • Tim Holtz’s reinker, Vintage Photo
  • Recollection Paint Brushes – Black
  • Small round brush
  • Cuttlebug with the plates
  • Beige cardstock measuring 4 by 4 1/2 inches
  • Clearly sentimental Stamp, about Anniversaries from My Favourite Things
  • Double-sided tape
  • White Glue
  • Recollection Red Card – 5 by 6 1/2 inche
  • Kraft Cardstock – 4 6/8 by 6 1/4
  • Black Archival Ink from Ranger
  • Clear Emboss Powder
  • Anti-Static bag
  • Washi Burlap Tape – 6 1/4 inch long

I almost finished another video which I planned to post next week, assuming the weather is on my side.

Other than that, things have been slow cause of this heat.  I am trying to get some stuff done for the Bentley sale in November and December.  It takes up to two weeks to knit a scarf for example.  And before I know, it will October and I am going be one mad knitter.

I hope everyone stays cool in this summer.

Standing Still

I am not sure of how to explain of how I have been feeling lately.  The big part where there are neon arrows pointing to is that I have been sick for the past week.  I have actually stayed in bed for three days, feeling like garbage.

So ok, it is probably perfectly understandable when I say that I am having a hard time getting back into my groove when it comes to cards, yarn and videos.  Maybe I haven’t gotten my full strength back yet?  Right now, it is taking a lot of energy to wiped down my craft table and work on a simple scarf.  That could be it.

So maybe the illness of whatever I was suffering is still lingering?   I honestly have no idea, I am not a doctor.  But if I am still sick, I am going to be seeing a doctor, because this is not helping.  Even though the big craft sale is in November, 4 months away.   It still takes time to make stuff.  I am really hoping to go on a little holiday during the summer and I am not bringing any stuff to work on.

The bad part of being sick is that I let my mind wander.  Wander to new ideas of for the next You Tube videos or what can I sell.  Some ideas are good, while some . . . I am blaming it all on the illness.  Yeah, that bad.

So I am just checking in, to let everyone know of what is happening.  I am planning to have some more to post next time.

I hope everyone is well.

From Sketch to Card . . . Father’s Day Card

I know that I had cut it close . . . again with the holiday cards.

Here is the link to the video Father’s Day Card

I don’t know if you may recalled, but several months, we had a small tornado that hit our town. As far as I recalled, no one was hurt.  But there was major damage to the properties, including my house.  The good news is that we only lost a few shingles on our roof.   The neighbours behind us half of their roof was gone.  So obviously we were down on the waiting list of getting our roof repaired.

Well this week, we finally got our turn and oh boy. The constant banging for the past week has given me several bad headaches and reasons to go out shopping to buy useless stuff, just so I can get of the house.  Shoot, I finally cleaned out a shelving unit, getting rid of some of my stuff, I really do not need any more stuff.  Not to mention, I am supposed to be on a budget.

I also going to apologized for me being listening to my MP3 player while making the video. I do not know if it is rude according to the You Tube equittes, but honestly, I would rather listen to Ricky Martin, “She Bangs” to the banging on the ceiling.

20180616_155028(0)[1]

Here are the supplies that I used:

  • 5 X 6 ½ inch Kraft Card
  • 12 x 12 Recollection Pattern paper, “Wood Slate” cut down to 4 ¾ x 6 ¼ inches
  • 3 x 4 inch Recollection Pattern paper, “Green Faux Canvas”
  • 2 by 6 ½ inch corrugated cardboard strip
  • 4 inch circle from 90 lb watercolor paper
  • Happy Father’s Day stamp by Recollection
  • Leaf Stamp by Craft Smart
  • Versamark Ink Pad
  • White Embossing Powder
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Tim Holtz’s Distressed Inks:
          • Frayed Burlap
          • Mowed Lawn
          • Vintage Photo
          • Antique Linen
  • Double side Tape
  • Green Button
  • White Embroidery Thread

This card was quite a challenge. Honestly, Father’s Day and sympathy cards are the hardest card for me to make.  I know with Sympathy, I really do make them unless I have to.  Like my friend J and I get together to make cards, we usually don’t, “Oh boy, oh boy, let’s make some sympathy cards.”  Birthday cards are more fun than sympathy.

Halloween is the next holiday, so hopefully I can make that one in time.

I hope everyone is well
