Trying to Catch Up

I know it has been awhile . . . again since I last post.  I have been still dealing with back problems and cleaning.  This is my next big cleaning up project.

The clean stamps.  I foresee a few slurpees and chocolates just to get through it.  It is a complete mess.

Although a funny note is while I was sorting out my buttons, this truck button was stuck in this jar.  I eventually got it out with a help from a friend.  But still that question still remains, how the heck did it get in there if I can’t get it out.  Good grief.

However I have participated in a few art exchanges.  One was favourite quote on an ATC and we had to used a playing card.  This was mine and the second one was the one I received from the exchanged.  I went alittle overboard because I completely covered the playing card.

20170216_170052120170216_1701311  These two are birthday cards for my nieces.  I cannot believe one of them turned 18, ghee, it didn’t seem so long ago when she was playing with Barbie.

I did do a delivery for Koda’s Kountry for Easter. And please excuse my big toe in the shot

As for knitting, I just finished these two pieces.

So that is basically it.  Now wonder my back hurts.

Oh nuts, I can’t.  Maybe I can fixed it later.  I still knee deep in spring cleaning.  This weekend, I went through all of my old sketches, recycling 80% of my sketches.  If you do not mind me tooting my own horn, my skills have improved greatly since I started.  As well I started storing my sketches through a different system.  And my binder full of knitting and crochet was bursting at the seams.  So that divided up into smaller and manageable binders.

And yet, my place still looks like a tornado had hit it.  Terrific.  The only bad part of this is that there are two big boxes that I have to go through.   They are my cardstock and pattern paper.  The big problem is that they are super heavy and I still have a bad back.  Before I used to have this old footstool where I was able to placed the heavy boxes and move them around.  But we threw out the footstool so I am kind of screwed.  I probably can figure out another way.

The other bad part is that I am having one heck of a time of getting my canvas boxes label.  Apparently, the cute chalk labels that I made for them doesn’t work.  I cannot find a glue that works.  Unless I go with crazy glue which oh heavens to Betsy, that is a mess itself.

Other then that, things have been quiet.  I have to come up with some ideas for Easter cards, but I have time.  Unfortunately enough time, to figure out the papers.  Oh goody.  It is not that I don’t mind the work, it is the back pain that I do mind.

Christmas Album Winner

The sale last Saturday didn’t go well as planned.  The weather was good, but I didn’t make too many sales as I hoped or received any new orders.  But it happens.

Now everyone reading here is wanting to know of who is the winner of this album.20161030_17091801

I had my mother do the drawing, because I wanted the drawing to unbiased and honestly, I can’t do the drawing and take pictures at the same time.  I have short arms.

So congratulations to Lori Kelly on the album.  I already contacted her and currently making arrangements.

I want to make another album like that for myself.  It was so fun to make once I figured out the instructions and of course with J’s help.

Anyway, nothing else is new happening.  I think I got the bug because I feel icky.  I am hoping a day of rest would do because I have a bunch of things to do.

Making time

I am still knee deep with all of the sale stuff.  But yet, I managed to make time for a get well present for my boyfriend’s daughter.  I crochet a little bunny, threw in some monster socks, hair bands, a sucker with the label saying “Surgery Sucks”.  I even made a beaded bracelet.  That was interesting since I haven’t made one of those in over 20 years.  Thank goodness for YouTube.

The bunny pattern from Leelee Knits. Here is the link to her pattern.  http://www.leeleeknits.com/free-crochet-bunny-pattern/

The hard part of this was my boyfriend.  He was expecting was this package.  He didn’t know that I was sending this to his daughter so I had to stall.  He know of when I am lying to him.  So I did what any insane person would have done in my situation.  Ate food knowing full well that it would disagreed with her and fake a migrane.

Here is what I made for her.

this is the bracelet I made for her.

Ok, I don’t know of why I can’t get the photos up.  And I don’t have to time to figure it out. I have a bunch of cards and two albums to finish.

I also gave my boyfriend a candy bar.  If I was sending him a parcel, it would be nice to give him something.  Well this is the part where I want to either hug him or punch him in the arm for.  He gave his candy bar to her.  How am I suppose to spoil my boyfriend if he keeps giving it away.

The sale is less than two weeks and I am in panic.  And I know I am always like that every year so it should make a big different.

So that is the reason of why I am ending this blog.  Hope everyone is ok.

Three Weeks, no problem

I have less than three weeks before the big sale in Bentley, Alberta.  While everyone including my bf tells me that I am going to be fine, I am still freaking out.  I have enough Christmas cards that my plastic bin for Christmas cards is completely full.  I can’t put anymore in.  I still have to make a few birthday cards and some bird cards.  But I am still worried that I don’t have enough or no one is going to buy anything.

I know, I know, breath.

I am still planning to do the draw, but I can only do one prize.  I didn’t get the shawl done in time, but the album is almost done.  And if I do say so myself, it looks damn good.  I am hoping to get it done this week and try to figure out of what to say.

I want to hand out tickets for customers when they make a purchase, but I do not want to give someone three tickets if they buy three dishcloths.  It has to be purchased price.  As well I am still trying to figure out of how to document the drawing and posting it on here.  I am not technical person.

The big problem is that life got in the way again.  My mom’s computer got hacked into so I had to help her out.  Did I mentioned that I am NOT a technical person?  Then I thought that I could move a table to get to plug in my charger.  Notice the word, “thought”, you guess it, I was wrong.  I ended up throwing my back out so that was just peachy.

So I missed a few days of working.  I am hoping today to finish 5 cards, and a bear.  No problem. . . . I hope.

In other news, I cannot remember if I mentioned this, but one of my hairdresser’s clients saw my cards and bears and offered to put them in her sales during the summer if I want.  Of courses, I said yes.  The sales went really good and  I sold out of little bears.  The only part that bugs me that she removed all of the care instructions of my knitted and crochet works.

Why would she do that?  If I brought a scarf, I would like to know of how to wash it without the fear of wrecking it.

The good news is the money I made from the sales, I was able to treat myself to a color and purple highlights.  I thought it would be nice to treat myself that didn’t involved chocolate, or yarn.  I thought of getting a manicure, but I am so stressed out that I have been chewing my nails.  So that is not a good idea.

Back to work.

Outside the Box

A couple of weeks, I was hanging out with my friend W, where I told him about the “Cheap Art Challenge” and what I was planning.  Even though, he did like the sketch of the horses I showed him, he told me the idea of a challenge  is to think outside of the box.  Which is true, however to me, it means portraits.

Portraits are not outside of the box for me, they are more like I am standing in the middle in the dark, scary forest being chased down by monsters and my flashlight is going out.

Apparently, his words were stuck in my mind because the next day, I went to the Dollar Tree to pick up some more aluminum tape.  They were out, so I ended up picking small magnets for album closures.  While I was walking around, I found this.

20160817_222748[1]8 inch circle canvas.  That is definitely outside of the box because I never used a circle canvas before.  So that with these markers, I also ended up picking up poster board.  I need a cover for an upcoming album.  But that for another post.

Now I am facing the “White Background” syndrome again.  Even though, I am planning to use the markers as sprays, but then what.

The circle reminds me of one of those portholes, (I think that is what you call them).  Anyway, it remind me of either on a ship or in a submarine, where you are peeking out to see life underwater.

Except Vicky Papaioannou from http://www.clips-n-cuts.com/2016/08/art-journal-layout-vitamin-sea/  .  I don’t know of why I can’t insert that link.  She is a very good artist when it comes to art journaling and cards.  She is one of my favourite channels on You Tube.  Anyway, she recently did a journal piece of a the porthole.

You see of where I am getting at.  Even though, they say imitation is the best form of flattery.  But kids also say,

Lesley is a copycat.

Lesley is a copycat.

Good grief.

The other day, while working on my order and feeling like a cooked turkey.  The temperature was 29C and my AC was broken.  I could feel my brain frying.  Which could explain my next idea.  I thought of finger-painting for the canvas.  Then giving melted crayons another chance.  Explain the brain frying.

Finger-paint is out side of the box and free, but again, what do I paint?  I kept thinking pumpkins. Why am I obsessed with them all of the sudden is a good question.  I don’t have the answer to that.  Finger-paint, I can do flowers, but I can’t do small detail work.

I am going to let it sit for now.  I want to work on the horse one for a bit.  And do a couple of tests on the poster board.  Here are some cards that I recently complete for an order that was due today.

A Boring Post

I was hoping when the time comes to blog again, I would have something to tell you.  Some progress on the Cheap Art Supply Challenge, a knitting project, art journal, you know something.

But I got nothing.

This week, my aunt was suppose to visit, but we were waiting for her to call us to let us know of when the plan was suppose to arrived.  We waited, waited, and waited, until we called to see of what was going on.  She totally forgot about it, including buying the plane ticket.  Oh good grief.  So now, she is saying that she is planning to come at the end of this month.  But we will see.

Meanwhile, my dad brought a new couch and you guessed it, he wanted in the room where my mini studio is.  The couch I had was over 40 years old, it was parent’s couch and it is completely worn out to where I had to put a plastic lid underneath the cushions so it wouldn’t sagged and wreck my back.

So with dad, the movers and everyone in between, my little studio got shoved into many places where today, I am still trying to find stuff.  So this week, I have been putting it back together, putting stuff away and believe it or not, throwing stuff out.  Stuff like ATC that I was working on almost a year ago and such.  I realized I am not doing much trading with them so instead of making 10 per series, why not make 2 or 3.  Right now, they are going into my mail art, which I need to get off my butt and get that sent right away.

I am still battling fatigue and now, forgetfulness ( I am hoping it is not going to become a family’s trait), because it took me all day to find my reading glasses and I have 3 pairs.  I ended up using the ones that I use for this computer.  And just a hour ago or so, before I had my shower, I found my regular reading glasses.

I found out the hard way that the government does not issue notification that your driver’s license is going to expired.  And what I mean the hard way as in I got pulled over by the cops last week.  And now I have a $300 ticket.  Terrific.  Plus $85 for license renew fee.  Mom offered to helped me with out the ticket which I can pay her back in installments.  Still, I don’t like asking for help since both my parents are on pension and they are also helping out my brother.

So am I a bit stressed out.  Considering at my visit with my therapist, which was also this week, I had a little meltdown in therapy.  Not crying, throwing a temper tautum or furniture, I just made a statement using my outdoor voice.  Which is why I got my dosage changed.  I am hoping it get rid of the fatigue.

Tomorrow, I have to make more cards for my hair dresser so I am hoping that I have a space to work at.  Better yet, some ideas of what to make.

So in reality, I did have something to say.
